IELTS almost never uses the question's exact words — it says the same idea differently, and hides traps that only look the same. Train your eye to catch "same meaning, different words," every time.
🔑 বাংলায়: IELTS প্রায় কখনও প্রশ্নের হুবহু শব্দ ব্যবহার করে না — একই কথা অন্য শব্দে বলে, আর এমন ফাঁদ রাখে যা দেখতে একই মনে হয়। "একই অর্থ, ভিন্ন শব্দ" চেনার চোখ তৈরি করুন।
🎯 How to build the skill: Start in Spot to see how ideas get reworded — try typing your own version first, then reveal. Use Match to pair phrases fast. Then test yourself in Choose the meaning — pick the option that means the same, and beware the traps (a flipped word, a changed number, a true-but-different sentence). Save anything tricky and revisit it in My List.
🔑 বাংলায়: প্রথমে Spot-এ নিজে একটা বিকল্প শব্দ/বাক্য লিখে চেষ্টা করুন, তারপর উত্তর দেখুন; Match-এ জোড়া মেলান; তারপর Choose the meaning-এ নিজেকে যাচাই করুন — একই অর্থের option বেছে নিন, ফাঁদ (উল্টো শব্দ, বদলে যাওয়া সংখ্যা) এড়িয়ে চলুন। কঠিনগুলো Save করে My List-এ আবার অনুশীলন করুন।
Why you MUST master paraphrase — কেন paraphrase শেখা অপরিহার্য
In Reading, the answer is almost never in the passage's exact words — and in Listening you hear it once, reworded. Miss the synonym and you lose a mark you actually knew. This one skill quietly decides both bands.
Reading-এ উত্তর প্রায় কখনও হুবহু শব্দে থাকে না; Listening-এ একবারই শোনায়, শব্দ বদলে। synonym চিনতে না পারলে জানা উত্তরও হারাবেন — এই একটি স্কিলই দুটো band ঠিক করে দেয়।
📖 Reading
Passage: “The scheme was abandoned after just two years due to a lack of funding.”
Question: “The project was cancelled because it ran out of money.” — TRUE
Same idea, different words: abandoned → cancelled, lack of funding → ran out of money. Scan only for “abandoned” or “funding” and you walk right past the answer.
🎧 Listening
You read: “The library closes at 6 p.m.”
You hear: “…we lock up at six in the evening.”
The recording never echoes your words — it rewords them, and plays once. Miss the synonym, miss the mark.
