Syed Wasi has been teaching English since 2009 — over 17 years of experience. He founded CILL in 2013, designed this course and wrote the IELTS classroom book it is built on, and personally leads CILL's IELTS review sessions — while everyday classes are run by CILL's qualified IELTS teachers (band 7.5+).
New to IELTS? Begin right here. In a few minutes you'll know exactly what the test measures, how it is scored, how this app is organised — and where you stand today.
IELTS Academic has four skills. Listening, Reading and Writing are taken back-to-back on the same day; Speaking may be on the same day or a few days apart.
| Skill | Format | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Listening | 4 sections, 40 questions — recordings played once only | ~30 min |
| Reading | 3 passages, 40 questions, 11 official task types | 60 min |
| Writing | Task 1 (describe visual data, 150+ words) + Task 2 (essay, 250+ words) | 60 min (20 + 40) |
| Speaking | 3 parts — interview, long turn, discussion | 11–14 min |
Every skill is scored on the same 0–9 band scale in half-band steps (5.5, 6.0, 6.5…). Your Overall Band is the average of your four skill bands, rounded. Listening and Reading come from a fixed raw-score conversion; Writing and Speaking are judged by trained examiners — which is exactly why technique and practice matter most there.
Every lesson here comes from CILL's IELTS classroom book. Each skill is numbered simply from its own Chapter 1, and every lesson also shows its book chapter — so the app and the book always line up. The lessons are grouped into three blocks:
This orientation is the shared Chapter 1 for the whole app. Each skill then starts fresh at its own Chapter 1 — Listening 1–4, Reading 1–5, Writing 1–8, Speaking 1–3 — and every lesson also shows the matching book chapter (e.g. Listening 1 = Book 15), so nothing is ever missing.
Before you start building skills, find out where you stand. Take our free, auto-scored Skill Test for an instant reading across all four skills — then come back and begin with the skill that needs the most work.
Answer each one from memory, then open the answer to check yourself.
Answer: 6.5. 7.0 + 6.5 + 5.5 + 6.0 = 25, and 25 ÷ 4 = 6.25. An average ending in .25 rounds up to the next half band, so the Overall Band is 6.5. Trap: rounding 6.25 down to 6.0.
Answer: False. The 10 minutes of transfer time belong to Listening (paper-based). Reading is 60 minutes in total with no extra transfer time, so you write your answers on the answer sheet as you go.
Answer: It is under the 250-word minimum. Task 2 needs at least 250 words (Task 1 needs at least 150). An under-length essay is penalised under Task Response, however good the English is.
Answer: Scanning. You sweep the text for one specific detail — here, a year (a number) — and then read that sentence carefully. Don't hunt for the question's exact word ("rebuilt"); the passage may say "reconstructed".
📚 Self-study — before Chapter 2
Almost every IELTS Reading and Listening answer is hidden this way. Learn to see it, and marks you were losing start coming back.
Saying the same idea with different words or a different sentence shape: free → at no charge, children → visitors under twelve.
The test checks that you understand the meaning, not that you can match words. So the question rarely repeats the passage's words — and when it does, they are often placed next to the wrong answer. That is the Trap.
One path, step by step: Unit 0 (free) shows you why it matters with a real exam-level test, then Units 1–7 train one paraphrase type each — learn, practise, check — with Bangla explanations all the way.
Not one key word is the same — yet the meaning is. A student who only scans for “free” or “children” finds nothing.
The academic words IELTS rewards — each with its English & Bangla meaning, two example sentences, word forms, and British pronunciation. Learn by browsing, or flip through flashcards. No quiz — just learning.
Meaning in both languages, two real example sentences, and the word’s other forms — tap a form to see it used.
Every word has audio pronunciation. Flashcard mode lets you test yourself — no score, no pressure.
Each word carries its CEFR level (A1–C2) and shows where it appears in your book, tests and mocks.
Follow these steps in order. You can always come back to this page from Help in the menu.

Listening → Reading → Writing → Speaking. In each skill, open Lessons and work through one chapter at a time — every lesson shows its 📖 Book Chapter, so it matches your book.
After the lessons, open Practice: full timed tasks first, then Section Tests 1–6 for an auto-scored band estimate.
Start the Paraphrasing course (Unit 0 is free) early — it helps Reading and Listening most. Add new words from the Vocabulary Bank every week.
When all four skills are done, sit a Mock test in real test conditions, check your band, and go back to the weak skill.
Your free account includes the test format (Orientation), Chapter 1 of every skill, the full Mock 1 and Paraphrasing Unit 0. Everything else opens with Full access. Every card shows a Free or Full access badge before you open it.
Tap the green 🔑 বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা দেখান button. Your choice is remembered on this device. Test questions stay in English, like the real exam; Bangla appears in the explanations.
📘 Lessons teach the tricks, chapter by chapter, with quick Try-its. ✏️ Practice is full timed tasks. 🎯 Section Tests test one skill at real IELTS level. 📝 Mock tests are the whole exam, all four skills.
Everything here mirrors CILL's IELTS book, chapter for chapter — then adds what a book never could: real audio, auto-scored tests and an instant band. পুরো অ্যাপটি CILL-এর IELTS বইয়ের সঙ্গে অধ্যায় ধরে মিলে যায় — সঙ্গে যোগ হয়েছে আসল অডিও, অটো-স্কোরিং আর তাৎক্ষণিক Band।
Each skill follows the book exactly — same lessons, same order — and every lesson shows its book chapter, so the app and your book always match.
Beyond the book, the app gives you real practice with instant results — the part that actually builds your band.
